Ministry

The purpose of our Mission ministry is to inform and encourage our members to work in the greater Livingston community promoting and supporting services and resources for those in need. We work within the framework of the PCUSA (Presbyterian Church of the United States of America) by participating in the four annual Special Offerings (One Great Hour of Sharing, Pentecost, Peacemaking, and Joy Gift) and supplement our annual benevolence budget via guest speakers/programs, collections of non-perishable foods, eyeglasses, school & craft supplies, plus new shoe/socks & underwear drives. We also participate in the Port of Houston’s annual seamen’s shoebox drive and our local Empty Stockings program.

The Mission team is responsible for recommending for Session approval where we send about 10% of our annual budget each year. Our giving focuses mostly on organizations in Polk County which help serve those in need but does include some state, national, and international programs. Below is the list we now support.
